Security Serious Week kicks off today with the inaugural Security Serious conference at the Department of Media, Culture and Sport in London. The week, sponsored by NETconsent, Mimecast and Netskope is dedicated to helping businesses take security more seriously.
Minister of State for Digital and Culture Matt Hancock said: "We want the UK to be the safest place in the world to do business online, so it's great to see Security Serious Week bringing businesses together to raise awareness of the cyber threat and how firms can protect themselves. I'd urge all businesses to get involved, draw upon the support on offer, and sign up to the Government's Cyber Essentials scheme."
Attendees will hear first hand from some of the UK's leading minds in cyber security in a three part programme followed by a networking lunch.
Day 2 of Security Serious Week honours IT individuals and teams, who are on the front lines of security operations and defending organisations from cyber threats. There are 14 award categories at the newly established Unsung Heroes awards ceremony.
The week also includes more than 50 free webinars hosted by cyber security experts. On 6 October NETconsent will be presenting ‘The unhappy marriage between security and compliance’, which will challenge the notion that compliance and security are mutually exclusive.
